When a family member gets married its alwasy a special occasion, but for me this was an extra special one, as I got to be part of the supplier team as well as a guest of this magical day and there was 2 brides. What a dream. Liz and Jays wedding day was full of love, joy, colour and personal touches, which made for the most memorable of days.
It was an honour to do the hair and makeup for both Brides. Liz and Jay visited me in Spring last year I offered to do their beauty as their wedding gift and we chatted through ideas then, I was over the moon when they took me up on the offer - and even more so when Jay said they would like to go with my suggestion of Victory rolls in their hair. It's quite far away from my current signiture style, so it was super fun to do something different.
The Grand Hotel in Tynemouth is situated on the sea front and boasts beautiful views of the Long Sands beach. For anyone from the North of the Tyne, this coast line is a very special place, so it was a no brainer for Jay and Liz to hold their wedding there and I know they were super excited to share it with those not familiar to it.
The ceremony was simple with beautiful sentiment. As Liz and Jay stood hand in hand to share their vows and exchange rings, the guests were moved to tears to see the joy, love and commitment that exuded from them both.
Each part of the day was personally curated by Liz and Jay and so much thought went into the smallest of details reflecting their personalities in evert aspect. There were so many personal touches by them and also their guests. Liz's mum Ali did all the spectacular florals and was up late into the evening before, creating the stunning bouquets, Jay's friend Natasha embroidered Jays Veil and Tom the photographer was a friend of Liz's late father Geoff and I was honoured as Liz's cousin to help them with Hair and Makeup.
After the official ceremony Liz, Jay and their nearest and dearest headed outside for a blessing of the rings and then they changed our of their heels and went onto the beach for some photographs.
This is one of my favourite pictures of the day as it encapsulates who they are so perfectly.
As the day ran into the evening Jay and Liz cut their beautiful cake and the kicked off the dancing with a traditional 'first dance'.
We all had a ball. Tynemouth is a place of incredible beauty and childhood memories for me, but now it will always also remind me of Liz and Jay, what they have together and the incredible day we spent celebrating thier love for one another.
